Austin Emerald Hire Kevin Curtin to be New Head Coach
The Austin Emerald is very happy to announce the signing of our new Head Coach, Kevin Curtin. Kevin is a career US Army soldier with the passion, knowledge, and determination to propel the Austin Emerald to new growth.
He comes with a wealth of knowledge and experience grown over the past several years coaching with the MASL's Ontario Fury (currently Empire Strykers) and most recently the Florida Tropics. Kevin comes with a self-driven fire to guide this young team to the ambitious levels that the Emerald has planned.
When we asked Curtin what this role means to him he replied, “Making this step in the role of Head Coach/Manager is not one I take lightly, but one I passionately have been studying, preparing and sacrificing for during my years in the MASL. Deep determination drives me to cultivate a culture that immerses into this community of Austin and surrounding areas, one that is grounded in Discipline, Desire and Determination, where not only do we deliver a good, winning brand of arena soccer but are an integral part of a community. We want every layer of our professional arena soccer organization to be just that, professional!"
Originally from Virginia, he has lived in a range of cities around the US. He and his wife have three children, who themselves are on track for some amazing soccer ventures. Coach Curtin has been a Medic/Nurse in the Army for over 17 years all while simultaneously running small businesses and being an entrepreneur.
Owner and Co-founder, Stephen Carpenter has this to say about our new acquisition, “It is clear that Emerald is in good hands for the coming years. After a season of many struggles, Austin will be looking for a season of improvement and excitement. Kevin is just the man for this task.”
Kevin is the first of many exciting steps being taken on behalf of your Austin Emerald team to continue to grow as a team, in the community, and as a program.
