CRUNCH DEFEATS RAPID CITY, CHICAGO DEFEATS OHIO EXTREME: THE WEEK THAT WAS 1/28

CRUNCH VS RAPID CITY:

In an exciting indoor soccer match Saturday night, the Cleveland Crunch secured a victory against the reigning MLIS champions, Rapid City FC. This victory was a significant turnaround for the Crunch, who had previously suffered a 6-2 defeat to Rapid City in their season opener. 


The Cleveland Crunch dominated the first quarter, securing 5 goals off the bat. Tom Beck, assisted by Vinny Bell, who both made their Crunch debut this season, initiated the scoring spree at the 2:24-minute mark. Boban Cancar and Ma'Cain Spragling further extended the lead, to put the Crunch up 4-0. The first period concluded with Cleveland holding a 5-0 lead, including a power-play goal by Tom Beck. 


The second and third periods witnessed a more competitive matchup, with both teams exchanging goals. Rapid City managed to narrow the gap in the second and third quarter, with goals from Matt JacksonChris MendezTJ IfaturotiGiuseppe BaroneAlex Mendez and Elmedin Zuki. But standout performances from Crunch players like Kevin Blackwood, Bell, Sami Mutemwa and Beck, ultimately secured their 11-8 triumph.

 

CHICAGO VS. OHIO EXTREME:


The Chicago Mustangs defeated the Ohio Extreme 11-4 Saturday night. Despite the Ohio Extreme's commendable improvement in narrowing the goal margin compared to their last matchup, the Mustangs' ability to secure another victory underscored their consistency and competitive edge in the league. 

The Chicago Mustangs dominated the scoring in the first period, with Gabriel Uno and Luis Batalla securing two goals within the first two minutes. However, Ohio Extreme's Natxo Sanchez managed to put one past the Chicago defense with an assist from Pablo Archilla, narrowing the lead to 2-1. The Chicago Mustangs continued to assert their dominance throughout the game, extending their lead through goals from various players, including Christopher Coria and Alejandro Morales. Despite efforts from Ohio Extreme, including goals from Ian Richey, Tomi Ulla and Tomas Echevarria, they couldn't close the gap, ultimately falling to the Chicago Mustangs with a final score of 11-4.
