Major League Indoor Soccer Announces Expansion Opportunities for the 2026-27 Season

CHICAGO, Illinois (July 11, 2026) Major League Indoor Soccer (MLIS) is accepting expansion inquiries for the 2026-27 season across all three of its leagues: Major League Indoor Soccer (MLIS), Women's Major League Indoor Soccer (WMLIS), and Major League Indoor Soccer Extended (MLISX).

As indoor soccer continues to grow throughout North America, the league is seeking ownership groups interested in building sustainable clubs with comprehensive league support, affordable operating costs, and a clear pathway for long-term success.

MLIS enters its fifth season as the league's premier men's division, providing a platform for teams, players, coaches, and officials. The season runs approximately from December through March and includes a 12-game regular season followed by regional and national playoffs.

WMLIS enters its third season as the league's top women's indoor soccer competition. Operating under the MLIS umbrella, WMLIS offers the same league-wide support while continuing to expand opportunities for women's indoor soccer across North America. Teams compete in an 8-10-game regular season, followed by the playoffs.

MLISX enters its second season as the league's men's amateur development division, designed for organizations looking to establish themselves while preparing for advancement to MLIS. The league provides a competitive environment for clubs, players, coaches, and officials, with the opportunity for MLISX champions to earn promotion into MLIS.

All three leagues are built around a cost-effective ownership model designed to help organizations succeed both on and off the field. Member clubs receive league support in community outreach, operations, digital media, public relations, marketing, sponsorship development, ticket sales, statistics, streaming, and more.

Additional membership benefits include regional scheduling to reduce travel costs, regional and national playoff opportunities, referee game fees included, official league equipment, team website and statistics programs, and flexible payment options for season and expansion fees.

For the 2026-27 season, MLIS and WMLIS each offer a championship prize package totaling $25,000, while MLISX offers a $5,000 championship prize package.**

"Our goal has always been to provide clubs with an affordable, sustainable platform where they can grow both on and off the field," said Bernie Lilavois, MLIS commissioner. "Whether an ownership group is looking to launch a professional men's team, expand opportunities for women's soccer, or begin in our development division, we have built a league structure that provides the support and resources needed to succeed. We're excited to welcome new markets that share our vision for growing the game."

Organizations interested in bringing indoor soccer to their community are encouraged to learn more about the league's expansion opportunities.

*Prize awards are distributed over five years according to league terms and conditions.
