Major League Indoor Soccer Expands West: Utah Uprising Joins in 2026

CHICAGO, IL – Major League Indoor Soccer (MLIS) announced today the addition of Utah Uprising FC, marking a significant expansion into the western United States for the 2025-26 season. This move aligns with MLIS’ commitment to broadening the reach of professional indoor soccer and building community-focused clubs across the country.

Utah Uprising FC President Michael McNeil expressed enthusiasm about establishing the club as both competitive and community-centric.

“We aim to build a strong foundation by engaging local talent, creating memorable game-day experiences, and fostering a deep connection with our fans,” McNeil says.

McNeil says that joining the MLIS is a major step in bringing professional indoor soccer to Utah. “This move solidifies our commitment to creating a sustainable, community-driven club that competes at a high level while serving as a source of pride for the state,” he says. “It aligns perfectly with our mission to inspire and engage fans, promote local soccer development, and be an integral part of Utah’s vibrant sports landscape.”

The club is currently evaluating venues for its home matches in 2025-26, prioritizing a location that will meet the needs of both players and fans.

Long-term goals for Utah Uprising FC include building a loyal and dedicated fan base and inspiring youth in the community.

“Our team is built from the ground up with collaboration, passion and resilience—values embodied by our mascot, the Phoenix,” McNeil says. “We are dedicated to inspiring the next generation of athletes and showing our community that their dreams are within reach.”
