Mesquite, Texas, to Join MLIS and WMLIS This Season

Chicago, Illinois —Major League Indoor Soccer (MLIS) and Women’s Major League Indoor Soccer (WMLIS) announced today that Mesquite, Texas, will join both leagues this 2026-27 season under the Mesquite United FC name, adding another market to the leagues’ growing presence in the West.

Mesquite United was founded in 2020 by Club Owner and Director Travis Avant III, who has years of experience in the soccer industry as a coach, club director and soccer program organizer.

Since its founding, the club has continued to grow its youth and adult programs, focusing on creating opportunities for players at all levels. Now, the organization is expanding that vision by joining the MLIS and WMLIS.

“Bringing professional indoor soccer to Mesquite through MLIS and WMLIS is the next step in our vision,” Avant said. “I want to create opportunities for players, coaches, families and fans to experience a higher level of soccer right here in our community.”

“Having both a men's and women's team was especially important to us,” he added. “We believe there should be opportunities for both men and women to compete at a high level and represent the Mesquite community.”

Adding Mesquite to the league also creates an opportunity for a healthy regional rivalry with Dallas CD La Cuadra, an already established team in the MLIS.

The addition also provides a scheduling and travel benefit for MLIS teams. Visiting teams traveling to the Dallas-Fort Worth area will have the opportunity to play two games against different opponents during the same weekend, helping maximize league travel and keep costs low for teams.

Avant also sees an opportunity for professional teams to reach fans throughout Mesquite and surrounding communities while providing local players another level of competition.

“There is also a tremendous amount of soccer talent in Mesquite and throughout the surrounding Dallas-Fort Worth area. Our organization has seen firsthand how many players and families are passionate about the sport,” Avant said. “We believe there is an opportunity to give those players and families something they haven't had locally, a professional soccer team they can call their own.”

Community involvement will also be a focus for Mesquite. The organization plans to be involved with local schools, youth soccer programs, community events, clinics, and camps as it builds its club.

“We also want our professional players to serve as role models for younger players. We want youth players to be able to watch our teams compete and see a pathway from youth soccer to the highest levels of the sport,” Avant said.

The club is currently searching for a home venue and will continue building its leadership and soccer operations staff ahead of its inaugural season.

Additional information regarding coaching staff, player opportunities, tryouts, schedules, home matches, and community events will be announced as plans are finalized.

For Avant, joining MLIS and WMLIS is more than adding two professional teams.

“We want people to understand that this is about more than simply bringing another soccer team to Mesquite,” Avant said. “Mesquite United FC is being built for the community."
