MLIS Expands to Texas with Addition of Amarillo Bombers

Chicago, Illinois, August 13, 2024 - The Amarillo Bombers from Texas and Major League Indoor Soccer (MLIS) announced today that the Bombers will be joining the MLIS men’s division for the 2024-25 season.

James Parker, MD, owner of the Bombers, who have been part of Major Arena Soccer League 2 (MASL 2) since late 2019, is excited about the opportunity to expand the team's reach under the MLIS banner.

“We are looking forward to becoming a more well-known name in Amarillo,” Parker says. “This move will allow us to raise more funds and awareness, helping us expand our presence in our area and beyond. We are now going into our sixth season, and there are still people in this town who are unaware of our presence.”

One of the Bombers’ long-term goals is to build a facility, as the team currently plays its home matches at the Amarillo Civic Center Coliseum in Amarillo, Texas.

The MLIS has established a strong presence in the Midwest, boasting two indoor teams in Ohio alone—Cleveland Crunch and Ohio Extreme—as well as teams in Michigan, Indiana, Milwaukee and Illinois. The league has also recently welcomed the Canadian Crusaders out of Toronto, further expanding its reach into the Great Lakes area.

Beyond the Midwest, MLIS continues to expand its national footprint, now with teams in Colorado and Texas. The league is also actively pursuing opportunities to bring more teams into the southern and western regions of the United States.

“I believe we will continue to develop our skills and competitiveness through interleague play with new opponents as the organization expands,” Parker said.
