Rapid City and Cincinnati Kick Off MLIS Era on Saturday

History will be made Saturday night as the Cincinnati Swerve host Rapid City FC in Major League Indoor Soccer's inaugural game. Kick-off is slated for 8:05pm EST at GameTime Training Center in Fairfield, Ohio.

Cincinnati, an established club, went 1-11 last year in M2 while playing under the Brew City Swerve banner, but have since ended their partnership with the Brew City Legends, who also separately made the jump to MLIS this offseason.

The Swerve have since created their own player pipeline with a network of affiliations with four Premier Arena Soccer League teams.

"We’ve gotten a good sense of which players are ready and have the potential to take the next steps through our in house PASL friendlies with Valhalla, Cincy SC, Northern Kentucky Nitro and Atletico Cincinnati," said Swerve Head Coach Manny Adjei. "Building chemistry and putting in the effort to buy into the team’s philosophy will be huge throughout this season. Overall, we’re looking forward to see how our experienced guys and new additions blend in the first game."

Rapid City FC, playing out of Grand Rapids, MI, is entering its first year. The team will be led by the four Barone brothers, Domenico, Giuseppe, Hunter, and Mark. Giuseppe Barone and Dzenan Catic are former MLS draft picks. Rapid City is coached by futsal maestro Fabian Rodriguez.
