Rapid City and Crunch Secure Wins: The Week That Was 3/3

Rapid City Secures Win:
The Ohio Extreme and Rapid City FC were determined to make a strong comeback this weekend following recent setbacks. Rapid City faced a tough defeat against Chicago last Saturday but managed to secure the win over the Extreme, bringing their record to an impressive 4-3. Jacob Potts, #23 on Rapid City was named Player of the Game with 5 goals.

Looking ahead, Rapid City is gearing up to face the Chicago Mustangs at home on Sunday, March 17. Meanwhile, Lima is set to take on the Crunch on Saturday, March 23, at home.


Cleveland Beats Chicago:

The Cleveland Crunch advanced to 7-1 Saturday night, with a 12-3 win over the Chicago Mustangs. Chicago was coming off a 6-5 win in overtime against Rapid City FC, reigning MLIS Champs. Cleveland’s Mikey Derezic scored 18 seconds into the match, with Chris Cvecko shortly following. Chicago’s Gabriel Jurado  followed to put the score at 2-1, but Cleveland bounced back, seeing two more goals from Tom Beck and Dave Jordan to put Cleveland up 4-1 at the end of the first.

Cleveland netted 4 goals in the second and third quarters to put the lead at 8-1 going into the fourth. In the final quarter, Ma'Cain Spragling, assisted by David Jordan, opened the scoring for the Crunch, bringing the score to 9-1. Nestor Dominguez of the Chicago Mustangs responded with a goal at the 5:12 mark, narrowing the gap to 9-2 but Suljevic of the Crunch successfully converted a shootout opportunity, extending the lead to 10-2. Bryan Wolanski and Ryan Minick added to Cleveland's lead, bringing the score to 12-2. In a late response at 12:15, Chicago secured another goal from Adam Przytula resulting in a final score of 12-3. Marijo Musa earned the Man of the Match award with seven saves.
