Grand Rapids Flows Into First Place

North Olmsted, OH – On Saturday, February 25, 2023, Rapid City Football Club (RCFC) defeated the Cleveland Crunch on the road in their final matchup of the regular season in the Major League Indoor Soccer (MLIS) Eastern Division. Rapid City won in overtime in a golden goal scenario. The final score was RCFC 8 Cleveland 7. This significant win allowed RCFC to take control of the division heading into the playoff season.

  • “Man of the Match” Elmedin Zukic scored a hat trick including the game-winning golden goal in overtime. He also had 2 assists.
  • Chris Mendez also had a hat trick for the game.
  • Giuseppe Barone had 3 assists.
  • Nermin Crnkic scored 1 goal.
  • Jair Real scored 1 goal.

“We came into this game understanding they [Crunch] were undefeated at home and we had the chance to secure first place. You have to be prepared for those moments at this level, and our guys delivered," said Head Coach Louis Stephens III.

“Two great teams. Great game. Great win,” said Co-Owner Devon Joslin. “We know what is on the line at this stage of the season and we’re here to win. Our focus has always been on building a championship caliber organization on and off the field, and the recent results speak for themselves.”

Rapid City closed out their double header weekend with a win over the Detroit Waza Flo on Sunday with a score of RCFC 11 Detroit 4.

RCFC will play the Cincinnati Swerve back-to-back in March. The first match will be in Ohio on March 12th, and the second at home (MSA Sports Spot) on March 17th.
