The Week That Was 1/12: Amarillo Wins in Overtime Against Omaha; Cleveland and Toronto Secure Wins
Chicago, Ill. – January 12, 2025 - The Major League Indoor Soccer (MLIS) featured three matchups this weekend: Cleveland at Lansing, Amarillo at Omaha and Toronto at Ft. Wayne.
Amarillo vs. Omaha
Amarillo Bombers earned their first win of the season with a 10-9 overtime victory against Omaha Kings FC. This win marked a turnaround after Omaha defeated Amarillo earlier in the season in a 2-0 shootout.
Miguel Reyes led Amarillo with a hat trick, while Darren Mitchell scored the overtime goal with an assist from Emanuel Celaya. Omaha’s Manuel Lira scored twice and added three assists to keep his team in contention. Both teams used power plays and shootouts effectively, making it a closely contested game.
Cleveland vs. Lansing
The Cleveland Crunch extended their undefeated streak with a 15-1 win over Lansing. Cleveland’s scoring was led by Omar Najjar, Diego Pinto, Gabriel Pewu and Ma’Cain Spragling. Admir Suljevic added four assists.
Lansing’s goal came from Andres Gomez in the second period, but Cleveland maintained control throughout the game. Cleveland remains at the top of the league standings.
SUMMIT CITY VS. TORONTO
The weekend began with Toronto traveling to Indiana to face Summit City United. Toronto secured a 15-1 victory.
Toronto’s attack was led by Sebastián López, Darius Kerr-Cooper, Osman Hussein, Yonis Jama, Yevhenii Zaiets, Dmytro Medvid and Zak Drake who each contributed goals. Summit City was unable to match Toronto’s offense.
