The Week That Was 1/25: Amarillo Wins Back-to-Back, Chicago and Cleveland Follow

Chicago, Illinois - The Major League Indoor Soccer (MLIS) saw four matchups this weekend.
The Amarillo Bombers secured back-to-back wins against the Las Vegas Turf Monsters and Salt Lake City Utah Uprising, Cleveland Crunch won over Ft. Wayne Summit City Sentinels and Chicago Mustangs beat Pittsburgh Bridge City FC in a closely contested match.
Here is a recap of the weekend's matches below:
Amarillo vs. Las Vegas - Saturday, Jan. 31
Amarillo defeated Las Vegas 13–4 after breaking open a close game in the second and third quarters. Following a scoreless first period, Las Vegas struck first midway through the second, but Amarillo answered with three goals of its own to take a 3–1 lead into halftime. Amarillo then pulled away in the third period, scoring six times while limiting Las Vegas to one goal, creating a seven-goal advantage heading into the final frame.
Amarillo continued to add to the lead in the fourth, finishing the match with 13 goals on 42 shots compared to 19 shots for Las Vegas. Miguel Reyes and Cleberson Rodrigues each recorded hat tricks, while Amarillo also converted twice while short-handed. Las Vegas added two late goals in the final period, but Amarillo maintained control throughout to secure the 13–4 win.
Pittsburgh vs. Chicago - Saturday, Jan. 21
Chicago edged Pittsburgh 7–6 in a closely contested match at Grand Sports Arena on January 31. The teams were tied 1–1 after the first quarter, with Pittsburgh equalizing on a penalty kick. Chicago took control in the second period with two goals late, carrying a 3–1 lead into halftime. Pittsburgh responded in the third, scoring twice to pull even, but Chicago answered with three goals of its own in the period to regain a three-goal advantage.
Pittsburgh pushed back in the fourth quarter, scoring three times and cutting the deficit to one goal in the final minutes. Chicago added an insurance goal midway through the period and held on down the stretch to secure the 7–6 win. Chicago finished with a 41–23 advantage in shots, while Pittsburgh’s late rally fell just short of completing the comeback.
Amarillo vs. Salt Lake City - Sunday, Feb. 1
Amarillo earned a 14–4 road win over Salt Lake City on Feb. 1 at Sport City Utah. Amarillo took an early lead with two first-quarter goals and added four more in the second period to build a 6–1 advantage at halftime. Salt Lake City scored twice in the third to cut into the deficit, but Amarillo responded with three goals of its own to maintain control heading into the final quarter.
Amarillo closed the match with five goals in the fourth period, finishing with 14 goals on 32 shots. Salt Lake City added a late goal in the final seconds, but the outcome was decided well before then. Pedro Francisco Castaneda, David Trevizo and Emanuel Celaya each recorded multi-goal performances as Amarillo completed a consistent offensive effort across all four periods.
Ft. Wayne vs. Cleveland - Sunday, Feb. 1
Cleveland defeated Ft. Wayne 13–8 on Feb. 1 at the Wolstein Center after building a large early lead. Cleveland scored five times in the first quarter and followed with four goals in the second to take a 9–3 advantage into halftime. The Crunch continued to extend the lead in the third period, adding four more goals while limiting Ft. Wayne to one, and finished the period ahead 13–4.
Ft. Wayne outscored Cleveland in the fourth quarter, recording four goals, including a penalty kick. Cleveland finished the match with 13 goals on 36 shots, compared to 20 shots for Ft. Wayne. Rookie Jamon McCort led Cleveland with a hat trick, while multiple Crunch players contributed offensively in a balanced team performance.
