EASTERN DIVISION

The Cincinnati Swerve have their first winning streak after holding off Detroit 8-6 to improve to 2-1. Andrej Novakovic had three goals and an assist...and coming up, the Swerve will enjoy a five week break until they play in Grand Rapids on January 21.

The Cleveland Crunch shook off the indigestion from their road opener and won their first two games of the year, 10-6 over Rapid City FC on Saturday and 7-4 over the Detroit Waza Flo on Sunday. Ryan Minick led the way on Saturday with four goals and added two more on Sunday. Aidan Bozak's two goals and one assist earned him Sunday's Man of the Match nod...and coming up, the Crunch have almost six weeks to prepare for their January 28 home opener against Detroit.

The Detroit Waza Flo's season got underway with back to back losses. Detroit came back from 4-1 down in Cincinnati to tie the game at 5-5, but the Swerve pulled away for an 8-6 win. On Sunday, the Waza Flo got down early to the Cleveland Crunch and were trying to play catch-up the whole game, before losing 7-4.

Rapid City FC lost their home opener 10-6 to the Cleveland Crunch, but the big story was the gruesome leg injury Cole Russell sustained from a reckless tackle. Russell, who scored the first goal in MLIS history, broke both his tibia and fibula. After a 90-minute injury delay in the third quarter, as emergency medical personnel were delayed by wintry conditions, the game resumed and was played to its conclusion...and coming up, Grand Rapids will kick off the 2023 portion of their schedule January 8 in Detroit.

CENTRAL DIVISION

The Brew City Legends fell 7-3 to the Chicago Mustangs in their first road game, but they broke their season-opening scoreless streak. After 52:54 Cameron Williams scored Milwaukee's first MLIS goal, but by that time the Legends were already trailing the Mustangs 5-0...and coming up, the Legends will next play in Rockford on January 7 against the Falcons.

The Chicago Mustangs earned a convincing 7-3 home opener win over the Brew City Legends. Michael Marchionna had two goals and now has four in his first two games...and coming up, the Mustangs are off until January 15 when they host the Omaha Kings.

The Illinois State Line Falcons were idle last week...and coming up, the Falcons are off until they close out the year in Omaha on New Year's Eve.

The Omaha Kings didn't play last week, but their Argentina-born owners, Emmanuel and Carlos Viel, celebrated Argentina's World Cup victory on Sunday...and coming up, the Kings are off until they host Illinois on New Year's Eve.

SOUTHERN DIVISION

The Austin Emerald showed improvement in their second MLIS game. The 11-5 loss to the visiting Houston Bolt was comparatively better than their 24-1 season opening loss to Springfield, but the Emerald know they still have a lot of work ahead of them...and coming up, the Emerald get a rematch with the Bolt in Houston on January 7.

The Houston Bolt opened their season with an 11-5 road win in Austin...and coming up, the Bolt home opener is on January 7 against Austin.

The Springfield Demize were idle last week...and coming up, the Demize will head to Wichita on January 7.

The Wichita Selection were idle last week...and coming up, the Selection home opener is on January 7.
