The Week That Was: High-Scoring Matches and Close Calls

Chicago, Ill. – Week ten of Major League Indoor Soccer (MLIS) is complete, bringing teams closer to clinching playoff spots.

Following this weekend's matches, the Cleveland Crunch (Cleveland, Ohio) maintained the top spot with an 8-1 record and a +79 goal differential. The Amarillo Bombers (Amarillo, Texas) trail closely trail in second place with a 5-1 record and a +43 goal differential, while the Canadian Crusaders (Toronto, Ontario) hold third place with a 7-3 record and a +46 goal differential.

The 2025 MLIS playoffs will be held at the Wolstein Center at Cleveland State University from April 11–13, 2025. The playoff format includes a wild card match on Thursday evening in Cleveland at a separate location from the Wolstein Center. The fourth and fifth seeds will compete in the wild card match, with the winner advancing to the semifinal Friday to face the top seed. The second and third seeds will also face off in Friday’s semifinal. The winners of both semifinals will advance to the men’s championship Sunday.

This past weekend featured high-scoring matches and close contests.

The Chicago Mustangs (Chicago, Ill.) faced Toronto, resulting in an 5-8 victory for Toronto. Cleveland hosted Summit City United (Fort Wayne, Ind.) and secured a 11-23 win. Meanwhile, Amarillo traveled to Colorado to take on the Colorado Bucks (Denver, Colo.), earning an 8-2 victory.

Match Recaps

Chicago vs. Toronto
Toronto defeated Chicago 5-8, with Sebastián López leading the way with five goals. Raheem Rose opened the scoring early for Toronto, while López and Damion Graham extended the lead. Chicago responded with goals from Alejandro Morales and Gerardo Perez, keeping the game competitive heading into the final period.

López added three more goals in the fourth quarter, including a penalty kick, bringing his league-leading total to 24. Although Chicago added a late goal, Toronto maintained control to secure the win.

Cleveland vs. Fort Wayne
Cleveland jumped out to a 1-6 lead in the first period and extended it to 2-14 by halftime. Admir Suljevic led the offense with five goals, while Aidan Bozak and Ryan Minick each contributed multiple goals and assists. Suljevic currently leads the league in total points.

Ft. Wayne put together a stronger second half, scoring nine goals, but Cleveland maintained its lead with consistent offensive pressure. For Fort Wayne, Myles Mitchem and Joao Ratinho each scored twice and Steven Munoz contributed two goals and two assists.

Amarillo vs. Colorado
Amarillo struck first, taking an early lead, but Colorado responded with a goal two minutes before the end of the first period to cut the deficit to 2-1. With less than a minute left in the period, Tomas Tapia found the net to tie the game at 2-2 heading into the break. Amarillo took control in the second half, pulling ahead and maintaining its lead to secure the win.
