Women’s Major League Indoor Soccer Welcomes Utah Uprising for the 2025/2026 Season

Following the announcement of a men’s team in the Major League Indoor Soccer (MLIS) for the 2025-2026 season, Utah can expect a women's team to join the mix.

Michael McNeil, club president, says there is so much untapped talent in Utah, and the organization is excited to offer a platform for female soccer athletes to showcase their skills.

“From the moment we announced our men’s team, the response from women athletes and fans alike was incredible,” McNeil says. “The excitement, support and interest we received made it clear that there was a strong demand for a women's team. We believe it's not only the right time—but the right thing to do—to invest equally in our women’s program and continue building a truly unified club.”

Women’s soccer has continued to experience substantial growth in the U.S. and beyond. In 2024, the National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) saw record-breaking growth across the league, with a 285% increase in broadcast viewership and a 47% increase in match attendance, according to NWSLSoccer.com.

2025 is expected to be an even bigger year for women’s soccer across the country, and the Women’s Major League Indoor Soccer (WMLIS) is excited to contribute to that growth.

“In the short term, our goal is to build a strong, competitive team that represents our state with pride and passion,” McNeil says. “We want to create a culture of professionalism, community involvement and excellence from the start. Long term, we aim to be one of the premier franchises in the WMLIS—both on and off the field—through consistent performance, strong fan engagement and a commitment to growing the women’s game in Utah and beyond.”

McNeil added that the organization is also looking forward to being role models for the next generation and to show young female athletes they can live out their dreams of playing professionally.

The club is working with several potential venue locations, with hopes of securing one soon.
